This bus is parked since several days near Vierzon (middle of France) with a Deutschland plate.

We Worry about the fact it could be a possible stolen car

I have called the police in Germany today and ask them to check this numberplate.

Please can you do us a faivor? Can you check the Numberplate again is it

If yes please can you inform the police in France. It looks that maybe this numberplates do not fit to this car.
If your police can check this car please make sure that they will check the framenumber and not the numberplates...with the police here in Germany.
The numberplates are not stolen. Thats sure.
For the police here it ist not allowed to give me more informations. But the police in Germany ask me to ask you, is it possible for you to inform your police to check this car.
I think it is not possible for you to look for the frame number to identify this car or??
If you can get some more information about this Bulli I would like to contact the police again.
The police can not help if they can not identify this car.....

Hello Armin,
We are please to give some help if we can. We are all hoping others bus community will do the same for us in such a case.
I'm living La Rochelle approx 300 km from the town where this bulli is parked, so i ask the french member of t3zone (Gabriel) who give us the alert and tell you when i will know more about it.

Ok, the bus is not stolen (it's a good thing). But, why did it stays here without moving (since 7 or 8 weeks according to Gabriel)???
If the bus is out of order and if you can find the owner, we are Still here to help.

I ask them to contact the owner....and the police whs so kind to do this.
The Bulli have a technical defect. But the good news!!!! The have allready given a order to bring this car shortly back to Germany.

I was thinking that this tread is finished.....But....

Good news.

I got a call from the owner....
He is very, very, evry happy about the international Bulli Network. He was not knowing that somethink like this exitst
He is at home here in Germany.
He got a visit from the police last night...Yes they have not called, they have visited him!!!! They looked that everythink is okay with him.

So after this call I have more information:

He have had engine defect on the way back from Portugal to Germany. The cambelt was cutted and it looks that the valves are broken. He have had a travel insurence but they do not pay because the insurence says that the coast of the new engine is to expensive, The Insurence will only pay the scrapping of his car....
He ordert a carrier to pick up the Bulli and bring it back to Germany, but the carrier have not done it yet. The car is standing there now 6 weeks.

So his plan is to come back to Vierzone by this week, when he have rented a big trailer.
Please can you send me the contact adress inkl. phonenumber from Gabriel via PM. I will forward it to the owner.
The problem is....the owner is a little bit older... and have no Internet and no mobilphone. He speak no english and no france.
But he said on the other side of the parking place, there is a hotel and he would like to drink a beer with Gabriel and say thank you....do you think it will be possible...??

He owns this Bulli allready a very, very long time......He loves his Bully, and now he will come by him self to pick his Bulli up.

He pushed me to say THANK YOU again to you.

By the way.....the policeman have printed out the pictures of his car and have given this to the owner.....He was soooo happy to get this pictuers.
He was afraid that his T3 allready left this place. So now he knows the car is there to 100% and he will come.

Please inform me if the police bring the car to a other place. This will be a absolute urgend information for the orwner. The owner will try to start tomorrow together with a friend to Vierzone if he got the big trailer till then.

I will keep you updated....

Hallo zusammen

Es ist einiges passiert.
Nun muss ich euch doch noch mal updaten.....

Die Polizei aus Unna hat gestern abend den Besitzer Otto aufgesucht, und geschaut ob es ihm auch gut geht.
Und Ihm dann von seinem verlassenen Bulli berichtet. Das ganze war wohl sehr nett aber total überraschend für Otto.

Die Beamten haben Otto die Fotos von seinem Bulli aus Frankreich überreicht, und Ihm erzählt das es Menschen gibt die sich um Ihn und seinen Bulli sorgen machen...

Otto dem der Zahnriemen auf dem Weg von Portugal zurück nach Deutschland gerissen war konnte absolut nicht fassen,
und er war auch total gerührt auf einmal Fotos seines ( leidenden ) Busses der mal eben 800Km entfernt steht in der Hand zu haben, und das es da Leute in Frankreich gibt die helfen wollen. Er hat sich meine Kontaktdaten besorgt und mich sofort angerufen. Es war ein sehr nettes Gespräch.
Er sagte mir das er einen Schutzbrief hat dieser aber nicht eintritt, da angeblich der Schaden am Motor zu einem finanziellen Totalschaden führe. Die Versicherung wollte maximal die Verschrottungskosten übernehmen.
Da Otto aber sehr an seinem Bulli hängt, und diesen auch schon sehr lange besitzt, kam das natürlich nicht in Frage. Er hat einen Spediteur beauftragt der schon seit Wochen seinen Bulli holen wollte.......Wie Ihr gesehen habt ohne Erfolg. Otto wurde immer vertröstet.

Nach dem Otto nun die Fotos seines Bullis, seit gestern in der Hand hatte , und wuste das es da Leute gibt die helfen wollen hat er heute sofort gehandel...!!!

OTTO IST SEIT HEUTE 18,00UHR mit einem großen Anhänger auf dem Weg seinen Bulli in Vierzone selber zu holen.

Die Französischen Kollegen um Stephane und Gabriel haben hier Ihre Hilfe angeboten, und wir sind alle in Kontakt.

Drücken wir Otto die Daumen das alles klappt....
Otto hat mich nochmal gebeten allen hier zu danken!!! Leider hat er kein Internet so das er nicht sofort hier anworten konnte. Ich hatte aber eben noch Kontakt zu einem Freund von Otto der versprochen hat das am Wochenende zu übernehmen. Er hat mich auch drüber informiert das Otto auf dem Weg ist.

Otto will uns dann auch berichten wie alles so gelaufen ist.

Sehr schöne Geschichte, man kann kaum glauben das dieses die Realität ist und nicht irgend eine Soap.

Da wünsche ich Otto mal eine gute Reise und hoffe das der Bus wieder heil nach Hause kommt.

that's a great story. Bulli Community forever!

When I was working on my T3 outside an old man who has also owned a T3 Westfalia forever stopped by and told me a similar story, the car broke down and insurance rejected bringing it home as the transport would be more expensive than the car's value.

So he got a value assessment from an Automotive Appraiser (cost 250 EUR) estimating the car to be worth like 10.000 or 15.000. I think when you invested a lot of money and time into the T3 thats a smart thing to do so that in case of accident or breakdown you are covered.

Even driving down there and getting the car yourself is more expensive than paying for the assessment.
